- Hard to get ready to learn, especially on a Friday afternoon
ACTIVITIES AND NOTES
1) Directions Activity
a. Students take pen and follow directions that the teacher gives from the front of the class
b. Students then have to tell the teacher which states they crossed through
2) Make your own Directions activity
a. Plan out what to say
b. Do it with a partner
FINAL NOTES
Overall, very excited to learn and excited to be there. This excited-ness sometimes overflows and turns into bad behavior.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

- Kind of just there to watch a movie
1) Watched the opening part of Ice Age
a. They seemed to love it even though, I don’t think that they had any idea what was going on
FINAL NOTES
Cant wait until next week for them to come back! It was a blast, they were fun, and they didn’t really now English, but were excited for me to give them random words.

FINAL NOTES
The students seemed truly interested in what I had to say, and how I said it. Their English was poor, but they seemed to really want to learn and understand what I was saying.

1) Spelling Quiz
a. 4 words each week plus another from a past week
b. Teacher reads words slowly and distinctively, and repeats the words just once
c. Students must then use each word in a sentence
2) Pass Writing Homework
3) Class Discussion
a. Monarchy→ Republic ← Democracy

c. Discussion/questions
i. Action→ Reaction
ii. Cause and Affect
4) Writing Assignment
a. Short essay using cause and affect
b. Teacher has to re-describe the question a few times for the students to understand

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
- Students seem ready and prepared to listen
ACTIVITES AND OBSERVATIONS
1) Introduce the Candidates
a. I started by asking the students what they knew about the candidates
i. Very responsive and seemed to know a lot
b. Wrote Items on the Board
i. Name
ii. Party/Colors
iii. V.P.
iv. General Ideas of the Parties
v. The equivalent party in France
2) Discuss Topics that are Important to this Election
a. Economy
b. War
c. Social Security
3) Questions
a. The students asked me some questions
i. Who did you vote for?
ii. What party are you for?
iii. Etc.
Final Notes
Overall it went really well. The students seemed very receptive in both classes. It was difficult to speak in French the whole time, but luckily I had my advising teacher there to help me.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
- Lots of kids (26)
- Restless on a Friday afternoon
- Hard to keep on task and quiet
ACTIVITIES AND NOTES
1) Read homework
a. I read questions and they gave me answers (Next time have them read the questions)
2) Explain what they were learning today
a. US Postal Codes i.e. ME= Maine
3) Began activity
a. Filling in all 50 states with their postal codes
b. Students have to look at 4 different sheets to figure out the answers (good or not?)
c. By the end of the activity they students have lost interest and are ready to go home
FINAL NOTES
Class on Friday afternoon will be difficult to handle. They seem to have difficulty understanding what is being said by the teacher because they don’t have a lot of English experience.

ACTIVITIES AND NOTES
1) Spelling Test
a. Teacher reads words slowly, uses in sentence, and repeats
b. No Bonus in this class
2) Correct Spelling Test
a. Get out red pen to correct
b. Students give teacher the words to write on the board
3) Acting out a Story
a. 3 Billy Goats Gruff
b. Split the class into 2 groups
c. My Group
i. Asked them to explain the story to me
ii. Asked who wanted which parts
iii. Highlighted their lines and then read it as if they were on the stage
d. The 2 groups performed and then were dismissed for the day

b. Teacher reads words slowly, reads in a sentence, and repeats
c. Bonus→ Sentence, which they have been learning about
2) Correct Spelling Test
a. Get out red en to correct
b. Teacher has the students give her the words, and she writes them on the board
3) Teacher reads a story
a. A book that they read every Friday afternoon (continuous)
4) Read a book over the weekend
a. They take a book out that they are required to read over the weekend
FINAL NOTES
Generally a nice class; students seem interested and involved. They seem to focus a lot on reading, not so much on verbal aspects.

a. Simple 3 person conversation about a new girl in school
b. Very much like how I learned French in the states
3) Listen and repeat the same conversation
a. Students seem very interested in what is being said
4) Translate the same conversation
5) Explain what was said in the conversation
6) Talk about where it takes place, words they don’t know, and words they do know
FIANL NOTES
The students worked on the same conversation for the entire class. They seemed to loose interest about half way through. Keep your activities moving when you start to teach. Also it was very much like a French class at home, but just in the reverse.

- Teacher is a very intereactive
1) Start out with a pre-test spelling test
a. 1-12 on papers
b. She reads words with the sounds [e] and [a]
2) I introduce myself
a. They ask me some simple questions
3) I read “O the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seues to them
a. Very simple, the 2 students seem to be very giggly, and the other 2 are very engaged
FINAL NOTES
VERY elementary school. It was nice to read the O the Places you’ll go since it is one of my favorite books and one that my mother used to read to me often. Also, since it has sort of been a theme in my life, it was very D & M.

a. Outline→ Region as well as the each state
i. Students seem to be engaged, however a little restless
ii. Other students still seem to already have some of this knowledge (the students from the states)
b. Capital and Names→ Spell
i. The teacher is very visual and interactive
ii. She also does a great job relating to Europe i.e. Frankfort, Georgia
c. Homework→ test on the SE Region
2) Longitude/ Latitude
a. Activity locating a dot on a ball
b. Activity locating a dot on a piece of paper
i. Talking about how vertical and horizontal lines help to find a specific place
c. Draw circle in notebook
i. Identify: prime meridian, equater

- Very Middle School
- Hard to get focused
ACTIVITIES AND NOTES
1) Activity w/ Maps (test?)
a. Identify Places
i. Create legend
b. Teacher rarely looks up from desk, very trusting → the students are cheating
c. One girl raises hand and does not get called on or looked at
d. The teacher → FIERCE
2) Lecture read from book, and small text given by teacher
a. Students seem to be afraid to answer because the teacher is so aggressive
b. She would be considered a bad teacher in the states because she does not connect or engage her students
c. Passing of notes in class (love it!)
d. No clock in the room, interesting tactics
3) Same activity→ more note taking
a. Very college like w. note taking abilities
i. However students don’t seem to have the ability or skills to take appropriate notes
b. A joke arises from something the teacher says → she laughs for 5 seconds and instantly tells them to “shush”
4) Student make/copy the map the teacher has put on the board
